Calamecca is a small medieval village in Tuscany, in the municipality of San Marcello Piteglio (Pistoia), at 693 meters above sea level.
From Calamecca it is very easy in a day trip to reach cities like Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Siena and the beaches of Tuscany.

Calamecca is perched on a rocky slope near the source of the river Pescia, and is surrounded by lush vegetation consisting predominantly of chestnut.

Also, thanks to its slightly secluded position in the heart of the Pistoia mountains, Calamecca has retained the charm and slowness of a distant past: the medieval gate of the old castle, the stone-paved alleys, the church and the bell tower that dominate the valley, the fountain with the Medici coat of arms…

The square Francesco Ferrucci (Piazza Ferrucci), always a meeting place for the locals and visitors especially in spring and summer months, comes alive with events organized by the Pro Loco. The bar and grocery store in the square are open all year.

The garden of the “Colle” and the soccer field are a favorite destination for local children.
